American Actress Viola Davis has come under serious criticism from fans after she joined in mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The actress received backlash from netizens after she shared a ‘rest in peace’ post for the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II died on the 8th of September at the age of 96. While she was the longest-reigning monarch, not many were pleased with her leadership.
Viola took to her Twitter page to share a condolence message and this did not sit well with her loyal fans.
The tweet read, “Her Majesty dedicated her life to service to her country in the commonwealth with grace and with Grace has started and next journey. RIP Queen Elizabeth II.”
Many fans were not pleased to see their fave mourn the late Queen as they believed she reigned over a nation that committed many crimes through colonialism.
Davis also starred in ‘The Woman King‘, a movie about a female-led African army that fought against colonial forces. This had more critics talking as they believed she should not be mourning the British monarch.
After coming under pressure from netizens, the actress has been forced to take down the tweet.
