The APC presidential flagbearer, Tinubu, has announced a new running mate after the placeholder Massari stepped down from the race.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has named former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Recall that the APC candidate had named Ibrahim Massari as his placeholder to meet up with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline. Massari has finally stepped down and a substantive running mate has been announced.
This was shared yesterday 10th of July merely hours after Ibrahim Massari announced he was stepping down as vice presidential nominee. Tinubu made the declaration while addressing newsmen shortly after his closed-door meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in Daura, Katsina State.

According to the APC candidate, Shettima had not been informed that he was to be the running mate at the time this was disclosed.
Tinubu revealed Shettima’s name when asked about his substantive running mate. He said, “Kashim Shettima, I have not discussed with him but I have disclosed it to you”
Kashim Shettima is a 55-year-old two-term governor of the Northeastern Borno State from 2011 to 2019 and currently represents Borno Central in the Nigerian Senate.
