Man Smears Mona Lisa With Cake In Climate Protest

A young man in a wig and lipstick arrived at the Louvre in Paris in a wheelchair and smeared Leonardo da Vinci’s 16th-century masterpiece, Mona Lisa.

According to Agence France-Presse, one witness said the man, who was not immediately identified, first tried to smash the bulletproof glass. Seeing that he couldn’t smash the glass, he then proceeded to smear cake on the glass and threw roses everywhere before he was tackled by security.

Other footage showed the disguised protester being whisked away from the famed museum by the security guards. While being whisked away by the security after the attack, the protester said- “Think of the Earth, there are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That’s why I did this,” without explaining why da Vinci’s masterpiece was made a target.

Staff quickly wiped off the cake which was covered in bulletproof glass because of a series of attacks.
