Kim Kardashian Accused of Damaging Marilyn Monroe’s Dress

Kim Kardashian allegedly caused “permanent damage” to the classic outfit Marilyn Monroe wore to serenade John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday, soon before the actor’s death, according to a Marilyn Monroe collector.

The crystal-studded gown, which Kim wore to the Met Gala, was provided to her by executives who own the historical piece.

Kim had to shed 16 pounds to fit into the outfit because no alterations could be made due to its age and provenance. After the red carpet, she changed into a replica.

Scott Fortner, a collector who works to authenticate and verify Monroe artifacts, took photos of the garment last week that looked to show stretched and buckled fabric and missing crystals on the back.

Rips, strains, and significant wear and tear could be seen on the dress, which also appeared to be missing some crystals with others “hanging by a thread” in the photographs posted to Instagram on Monday.

They then posted before and after photos with the caption, “Just in case you missed it… Missing crystals, and some left hanging by a thread”, and a video taken of the dress in 2016.
