Senator Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, have sued the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Banks, and others to court over the controversy surrounding the real age of the alleged organ harvesting victim.
Recall that Ekweremadu and his wife had been detained in the UK since the 23rd of June for allegedly conspiring to harvest the kidney of a minor in the UK. The said minor was a 15-year-old Nigerian who was flown into the UK by the couple to harvest his kidney for their sick daughter.
Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested and brought before the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, however, the case was adjourned to the 7th of July.
The identity of the alleged victim has been revealed to be David Nwamini Ukpo but there remains controversy surrounding his real age. Ekweremadu and his wife claim David was not a minor and was said to be a 21-year-old.

While the Ekweremadus wait to be arraigned in court, the couple has written to the Federal High Court in Abuja in a suit they filed through their lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN). The couple wrote to compel the NIMC, banks, and others to provide information about David Ukpo.
Other respondents listed in the suit are the Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Stanbic-IBTC Bank, United Bank of Africa (UBA), and the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc.
The requested information is needed for the defense of the case filed against them in the UK court. The Ekweremadus demanded that the NIMC provide Ukpo’s National Identification Number (NIN): 19438077110, which is in the possession of the agency as this would establish their innocence regarding Ukpo’s age before the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
