Deborah James bravely fought bowel cancer from 2016 until her death at the age of 40.

At the age of 40, Deborah James passed away from bowel cancer. She created a fund to raise money for bowel cancer charities as a kind final wish before passing away, saying goodbye to her fans in an Instagram post.

It was confirmed that Deborah passed away peacefully today surrounded by her family in a statement posted to her Instagram page.

A loved one wrote, “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Dame Deborah James; the most amazing wife, daughter, sister, and mother,” next to a stunning photo of the podcast host. Today, Deborah passed away peacefully while her loved ones were by her side. 

Deborah, also known as Bowelbabe to many of you, was an inspiration. We are incredibly proud of her work and dedication to charitable campaigning, fundraising, and the never-ending efforts she made to spread awareness of cancer that touched so many people’s lives. 

Deborah opened up about her experience in order to change the way people talk about cancer, dismantle stereotypes, challenge taboos, and raise awareness. Her steadfastness in trying to raise money and awareness was admirable, even during the most trying times.

Her loved ones expressed gratitude to the amazing public for their role in Deborah’s journey and expressed hope that Deborah’s legacy would live on through the BowelBabe Fund for a very long time.
