Buhari Orders Minister of Education to Resign

The Minister of Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, handed in his resignation letter yesterday, May 11, following directions from President Buhari.

President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier instructed all cabinet members running for the 2023 Presidential Elections to quit his government on or before the 16th of May, 2022. This was an attempt to avoid disputes that may further limit the chances of APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The Minister of Education had picked up the Expression of Interest and Nominations form from APC for N100m. Following the directions of President Buhari, Emeka Nwajiuba resigned in order to fully contest for office in the 2023 elections.

President Buhari commended the Minister for his courage. Several other Ministers have also been ordered to follow in his footsteps. These will include running aspirants Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; and many others who have also picked up the APC form for N100m.
