British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has handed in his resignation letter today, adding to several ministers who have also resigned from their government positions.
Boris Johnson announced his resignation today 7th of July at 10, Downing Street, London. He also resigned from his position as leader of the Conservative Party.
About 50 members of the Conservative Party had earlier resigned from their government positions and had cited a loss of confidence in Mr. Johnson as prime minister as a reason for their resignation.

In his speech given on Thursday, Boris Johnson thanked the Conservative Party and British voters for getting him into office in 2019. He expressed his sadness for leaving what he termed ‘the best job in the world’.
Mr. Johnson also disclosed that he would remain in office until a new Prime Minister is elected by the Conservative Party.
