Nationwide Blackout As Electricity Workers Embark On Strike


STRIKE: Power distribution has been halted in some parts of the country as the electricity workers embark on a nationwide strike.

The National Union Of Electricity Employees (NUEE) have embarked on industrial action and has withdrawn its services in several regions including the Kaduna Regional Headquarters of the Transmission Company of Nigeria(TCN).

The NUEE officials staged a protest on Wednesday morning at the Mando TCN Station in the Kaduna state capital. All operations were shut down and the workers were forced out of the company premises.

According to reports, the workers have vowed not to return to work until the federal government meets all their demands which include payment of outstanding arrears owed to former workers of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

In a recent video released on the media, the workers could be seen shutting down the Abuja Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) station.

The protest is also happening all across the country and has led to a blackout on Wednesday afternoon in some regions including Enugu, Abuja, Sokoto, Zamfara, and other states.
