ASUU STRIKE: UNIBEN Students Stage Protest Over Indefinite Strike

The Students of the prestigious University of Benin in Edo State have taken to the Lagos-Benin Expressway since May 4th to protest against the continued ASUU strike.

According to the protesters, the students are tired of staying at home due to the strike while their mates in many state and private-owned universities are proceeding smoothly with their educations.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a warning strike on the 14th of February, following the claim that the Federal Government has refused to meet the demands of the union. After 80 days of the continued strike, the Union and the Federal Government are still nowhere near reaching an agreement to allow the reopening of Universities in the country.

Students of UNIBEN are tired and have taken to the major road of the city with placards to draw attention to their pain and frustration over the indefinite strike.

The protest has entered its second day as the students continue on the 5th of May to plead for ASUU to call off the strike and allow them return to their studies normally.
