Two Presidential aspirants for the People’s Democratic Party’s ticket have been disqualified by the screening committee after failing to meet the party’s requirements.
The 2023 Presidential Election is fast approaching and the country’s lead opposition party, PDP, has publicly disqualified two of its 17 aspirants fighting for the party’s ticket. This decision was made on the 4th of May by the party’s National Working Committee Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
The two aspirants were since disqualified on the 29th of April, however, their names were not disclosed. After several days, the names of disqualified aspirants have finally been revealed. They are Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze and Cosmas Ndukwe. This disqualification now leaves the party with 15 aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket in the 2023 Presidential Elections.
Reports have it that the aspirants, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze and Cosmas Ndukwe, had appealed against their disqualification by the committee. However, the PDP chairman upheld the decision to disqualify these two aspirants on May 4th.
